There is a very special moment in Florence, when the old town is not crowded and is even more beautiful and relaxing to enjoy during a walk among the monuments illuminated by the warm light of sunset.
You will see the most picturesque and famous places of the city of Florence, like the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio during the most exciting moment of the day, when the sky gradually begins to change color and is preparing for the sunset. You will see a more romantic Florence, illuminated by the colored light of sunset reflecting on the marble of the Cathedral, on the brick of the Dome and on the ancient stones of the palaces.
Medici Palace: Visit the exterior of the fifteenth-century palace of the richest and most powerful family in the city, the Medic, where the family lived until the sixteenth century and where they celebrated the wedding of Lorenzo the Magnificent.
San Lorenzo Square: You will enjoy the bustling market square and the church that the Medici chose as the family church and where artists such as Brunelleschi and Michelangelo left their works.
Duomo Square:Heart of the city, it is unique for its beauty and the grandeur of the decoration made with the red, white and dark green marbles. In the square there is the ancient Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its huge Dome, pride of the Florentine Renaissance times.
One of the most picturesque squares in the world, from the past set for the Florentine public events. The square is a open-air museum, thanks to the facades of its old buildings among which emerges the fourteenth-century civil building that even today is the municipality of the city. On either side is adorned with statues, like the famous Renaissance works of the Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, the Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini and the most photographed by tourists, the replica of Michelangelo’s David, which replaced the original in 1873 and stored inside the Accademy’s Gallery.
Near Signoria Square is one of the statues most popular in Florence, the bronze fountain once used by merchants to drink in the past and where market was held. The statue rapresent a wild boar and it is considered a masterpiece from Renaissance for the surrender of naturalistic details. Called by the Florentines “Porcellino”, the tradition tells us that rubbing his nose brings good luck.
At the end of the tour we will stop on the Old Bridge, the oldest bridge in the city with its goldsmiths’shops from which we will admire a splendid panorama of the Florentine bridges and the hills surrounding the city. You will admire the sunset light that shines on the water surface and on the facades of the elegant buildings along the river.
