Book your private guided tour of the historical centre of Florence. Enjoy the most famous monuments, the places and the personages who made Florence one of the most visited cities in the world.
San Lorenzo district:
The square where there is the oldest Cathedral of Florence with its unmistakable unfinished facade. Its history is closely linked to the triumphant rise of the Medici dynasty who chose that as family church. In the district is held the picturesque market of San Lorenzo with the voices, the colors and scents of the irresistible typical florentine food.
Duomo square, the heart of the city, unique for the beauty and grandeur of the marble decorations of the religious complex, that includes the Baptistery, the belltower, the Cathedral with its giant Dome by Brunelleschi, the pride of the Florentine from Renaissance.
A few steps from Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio, there is one of the most searched statues in the city, the bronze fountain representing a wild boar, called by the Florentines “porcellino”, considered the mascot of the city. The ancient market at its side is full of leather goods and souvenirs.
Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge):
One of the most famous bridges in the world and the oldest bridge of Florence. He survived to several floods and destructions during the Second World War. Along its sides it is characterized by the picturesque windows of jewelry shops, that in the evening close their wooden doors as precious treasures.
One of the most attractive places in the city. Here took place the public events in Florence. The square is a real open-air museum, thanks to the facades of its old palaces among which emerges the imponent Signoria palace. The square is adorned with statues: the Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, Benvenuto Cellini’s Perseus and the most photographed by tourists, the replica of David by Michelangelo, that replace the original now preserved inside the Accademia Gallery.
The visit will end in the square in front the imposing building. It was commissioned by the banker Luca Pitti who wanted to rival the Medici family for wealth and size of the family palace. But just the Medici, as a result of the financial fall of the Pitti, will buy the unfinished building to complete that and where to move to live. When Pitti Palace became the official residence of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany, started the drastic transformation of Oltrarno district.
